Sharjah Economy issues its annual report for the year 2025

Sharjah, June 29 / WAM / The Sharjah Economic Development Department issued its annual report for the year 2025 under the title “A New Start for a Sustainable Economy”.

The report reviewed the most prominent achievements, initiatives and projects implemented by the department during the past year as part of its efforts to enhance the competitiveness of the economic environment in the Emirate of Sharjah, support sustainable growth, and consolidate its position as an attractive center for investment and business.

The annual report presented a comprehensive picture of the department’s performance and its strategic initiatives, including main themes that included investment, competitiveness, sustainability, digital transformation, service development and human resources, in addition to community and knowledge initiatives that reflect the department’s orientations towards an integrated and sustainable knowledge economy.

During the report, the department stressed the continuation of work to develop the business environment and enhance the efficiency of services provided to customers through a package of qualitative initiatives and digital projects that contribute to raising the quality of services and improving the experience of investors and entrepreneurs.

In its first chapter, “Investments,” the report dealt with development and investment indicators that reflect the stability and attractiveness of the economic environment in the emirate, in addition to reviewing the growth of economic licenses and the contribution of various sectors in supporting economic output, as well as efforts to enhance the local and foreign investment environment, business development, and the empowerment of businesswomen.

Under the “Competitiveness” section, the report reviewed initiatives and projects aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, supporting the growth of the industrial sector, and empowering the commercial sector, in addition to the efforts made in the areas of compliance, governance, legal support for various commercial and industrial sectors, combating money laundering, and actively participating in local and foreign exhibitions and events.

In the “Markets” axis, the report highlighted effective oversight to ensure safety and quality and enhance commercial protection. On the “Digital” side, it highlighted a number of advanced digital initiatives that included smart services, improving the customer experience, employing artificial intelligence techniques, and developing electronic systems in line with the directions of the Sharjah government in digital transformation, government innovation, and supporting the advanced data and artificial intelligence system.

The report discussed the department’s efforts in the field of institutional communication and human resources development through training and qualification programmes, stimulating competencies and enhancing the work environment, in addition to the community and humanitarian initiatives it implemented during the year and sustainable development initiatives.

The report also reviewed, under the “Development” section, enhancing institutional efficiency, knowledge management, specialized reports and studies, in addition to supporting the role of women in the industrial sector, consolidating the concepts of institutional sustainability, and continuous analysis to enhance customer experience.

The report addressed the department’s efforts to develop and enhance cadres and human resources, career advancement towards institutional excellence, community capacity development, building future competencies, achieving social security for employees, logistical support, and pioneering community and humanitarian initiatives.

The 2025 annual report reflects the commitment of the Sharjah Economic Development Department to continue developing an integrated economic system that supports sustainable development and enhances the emirate’s readiness to keep pace with global economic changes in accordance with best practices and modern standards.

His Excellency Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development, confirmed that the 2025 annual report reflects the Department’s commitment to implementing the visions and directives of the wise leadership and consolidating the position of the Emirate of Sharjah as a leading economic and investment destination at the regional and international levels by adopting the best economic practices and promoting a sustainable business environment.

He added that the issuance of the annual report comes as a documentation of a process of work and achievements achieved by the department in cooperation with various strategic partners, through which we continued to work on developing a flexible and competitive economic system that supports investment, innovation and entrepreneurship and keeps pace with rapid economic and technological transformations.

He pointed out that the department focused during the year on promoting digital transformation, improving the quality of services, and simplifying procedures in a way that contributes to improving customer experience and stimulating the growth of various economic sectors, in addition to supporting sustainability, empowering national competencies, and enhancing partnership with the private sector in line with Sharjah’s future development vision.

For his part, Abdulaziz Omar Al Midfa, Director of the Department of Government Communications at the Department, said that the issuance of the annual report is considered an important annual event that keeps pace with the renaissance witnessed by the emirate, which requires the availability of data, statistics and analyzes for investors and decision makers, as the report monitors the most important economic indicators in the Emirate of Sharjah with the aim of documenting the economic developments and visions of the Emirate. This in turn makes it easier for various parties to view the annual report and deduce the prospects and future of economic development in the Emirate of Sharjah and documents the economic progress of the Emirate by monitoring and recording all developments and changes that are achieved annually. At the level of various activities and sectors, it reflects the efforts made to advance economic development, explaining that the annual report allocated sufficient space to track the local economy in general and the economic indicators of the Emirate of Sharjah in particular.
