"Emirates Health" Organize a program "MentorEdge" To enhance the capabilities of nursing and midwifery staff

DUBAI, 1st July / WAM / The Emirates Health Services Corporation, represented by the Nursing Department, organized the “MentorEdge” program to train professional mentors for nursing and midwifery cadres, which lasts for two days at the Foundation’s training and development center in Sharjah.

The program comes within the Foundation’s strategic efforts to invest in human capital and enhance the readiness of the health workforce, as the program aims to train 110 professional mentors from the nursing and midwifery staff in the Foundation’s facilities by the end of the year, of whom 50% will be nationals.

His Excellency Dr. Issam Al Zarouni, Executive Director of the Corporation’s Medical Services Sector, confirmed that the program embodies the Corporation’s commitment to developing an integrated system to prepare health competencies and enable them to keep pace with the rapid changes in the health sector, pointing out that professional guidance has become one of the strategic tools to enhance the transfer of knowledge and expertise, accelerate the growth of national competencies, and prepare future health leaders capable of supporting the sustainability of institutional excellence and achieving the Corporation’s goals in the quality of health care and patient safety. He added that investing in training professional mentors contributes to building work environments that support continuous learning and innovation, and enhances the readiness of health facilities to deal with future challenges efficiently and flexibly.

Dr. Sumaya Al Balushi, Director of the Nursing Department at the organization, explained that the program represents a sustainable strategic investment in enhancing the culture of professional guidance and guidance within healthy work environments, ensuring the provision of systematic support to nursing and midwifery staff at various stages of their career development in accordance with international best practices, pointing out that the program achieves a double impact, as each trained mentor is expected to provide guidance to 5 to 10 nursing staff during his career, allowing the provision of guidance in multiple fields to more than 1,000 male and female nurses. In the coming years.

She added that the program focuses on building the capabilities of mentors in the areas of effective communication, constructive feedback, support for decision-making, and management of professional challenges, which reflects positively on developing competencies, improving the quality of performance, and enhancing customer experience and health care outcomes.

An elite group of experts, academics and specialists in the fields of nursing, health education and professional development from the Hind Bint Maktoum College of Nursing and Midwifery at the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences participate in the “MentorEdge” program. Its activities include a series of interactive sessions and workshops that cover specialized topics in professional guidance, including the importance of professional guidance in the health sector, the role of leadership in supporting guidance programmes, ethical considerations in guidance, building confidence in professional relationships, learning and clinical education strategies, and monitoring professional progress, in addition to… Topics of psychological safety and emotional support, planning for professional development, and managing situations and challenges associated with mentoring processes.

The program is an integral part of the methodology for implementing the institutional framework for professional guidance for nursing and midwifery at the Emirates Health Services Corporation, which has intellectual property rights from the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, and which aims to provide the basic components and infrastructure that support the professional growth of nursing and midwifery cadres, especially new graduates and young talents. It also contributes to supporting workforce strategies such as evidence-based career succession and preparing and qualifying Emirati nursing cadres to assume leadership positions in the future.

The “MentorEdge” program comes in line with the objectives of the National Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery 2022-2026, and in support of the UAE’s directions in building a sustainable and integrated health system based on national competencies, innovation and institutional excellence.
