Alvarez participates as a starter… 3 changes in Argentina’s formation to face Egypt

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni made three changes to his starting lineup in preparation for facing Egypt in the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup on Tuesday, the most prominent of which was relying on striker Julián Alvarez instead of Lautaro Martinez.

Left-back Nicolas Tagliafico and midfielder Leandro Paredes will start the match in place of Facundo Medina and Thiago Almada.

Argentina won 3-2 over Cape Verde after extra time to qualify for the round of 16, while Egypt won 4-2 over Australia on penalties, after the two teams tied 1-1.

The winner of this match will face Switzerland or Colombia, who will play later on Tuesday, in the quarter-finals.
