Rawda Al Sarkal is on the cusp of the women’s title in the UAE Chess Championship

The UAE Open Individual Championship, for women and under 8 and 10 years for boys and girls, organized by the Emirates Chess Federation and hosted by the Dubai Chess and Culture Club, will conclude this evening, Saturday, with the eighth and ninth rounds for the men’s and women’s categories, before the curtain comes down on the tournament with a ceremony for crowning the champions and heroines and the first-place finishers in all categories.
Rawda Al Sarkal, a player at the Abu Dhabi Chess and Mental Games Club, is on the cusp of crowning the women’s title, after she continued her strong performances and maintained the perfect mark by achieving 7 consecutive victories, raising her score to 7 points, moving away by a point and a half from her closest competitor, Ohoud Issa, a player at the Girls Chess and Culture Club in Sharjah.
In the seventh round, Al Sarkal achieved an important victory over Anoud Issa, a player at the Girls Chess and Culture Club in Sharjah, and before that, she defeated Wafia Darwish Al Maamari, in the sixth round, entering the last two rounds with a great advantage, as in the eighth round she faces Ahlam Rashid, a player at the Dubai Chess and Culture Club.

The seventh round witnessed Safin’s victory over Ahmed Farid, player of the Dubai Chess and Culture Club, while Imran Al Hosani defeated Ibrahim Sultan, player of the Dubai Chess and Culture Club, so that the two leaders set up an expected date in the eighth round that may be decisive in determining the champion of the current edition.
