We tried our best but lost in a frustrating scenario

Harry Kane, the star and captain of the England national team, expressed his deep sadness after his country’s hopes of winning the World Cup were dashed after a 2-1 loss to Argentina in the semi-finals.
Kane said in statements highlighted by the official website of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA): “When we advanced by a clean goal, we were content with just keeping the score, and that is not enough in a match of this level. We all gave our best effort, but we lost in a very disappointing scenario.”
He added: “I am very sad for the team, the technical staff and our fans, after we performed well for most of the match.”
He continued: “We played great matches in this tournament, and we qualified for the semi-finals again, and we were very close to winning, but we have to find the missing piece in the final and decisive stages.”
Kane concluded his statements by saying: “Everyone will talk about the coach, his decisions, and the players, but we did our best, and we were close to reaching the final, but we did not succeed for reasons that we must analyze and explain, and search for solutions.”
