The Community Development Authority in Dubai promotes the culture of volunteer work at the “Dubai Mallathon”
DUBAI, 18 JULY / WAM / The Community Development Authority in Dubai participated in the activities of the “Dubai Mulathon” initiative, which was held at City Center Mirdif with the participation of more than 300 male and female volunteers, reflecting the growing role of volunteer work in supporting community initiatives and the Authority’s efforts in establishing a culture of participation and social responsibility.
The event witnessed the presence of Her Excellency Hessa bint Issa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai, and a number of directors and officials, embodying the integration of roles between government agencies in supporting national initiatives aimed at enhancing health and quality of life and establishing the culture of volunteering as an essential pillar in building a more cohesive and sustainable society.
The volunteers contributed to the success of the event by organizing activities, receiving participants, managing walking paths, and providing support and guidance, which reflects the readiness of volunteer cadres and the high community awareness of the importance of volunteer work as a major partner in the success of community initiatives.
Reem Al-Awabid, Director of the Community Programs Department at the Community Development Authority in Dubai, confirmed that volunteer work represents one of the most important tributaries of community development and said: The broad participation of volunteers in the “Dubai Mallathon” reflects the values of giving and belonging that characterize the UAE society and embodies the vision of our wise leadership in promoting a culture of social responsibility and joint work. Every volunteer contribution represents an added value to society and reflects a growing awareness of the importance of social responsibility and joint work.
She added that the Community Development Authority in Dubai is keen to provide opportunities that enable community members to contribute effectively to community initiatives based on its belief that volunteering is a community culture and a way of life that enhances the spirit of responsibility and belonging and contributes to building sustainable partnerships that support the goals of the “Dubai Social Agenda 33” and enhances Dubai’s position as a global model in community and volunteer work, as the Authority allows those wishing to register for voluntary participation in the “Dubai Mulathon” initiative through the “Dubai Now” application.
The initiative witnessed the participation of volunteers from a number of government agencies, including the Dubai Sports Council, the General Command of Dubai Civil Defense, the Dubai Police, the Dubai Courts, the General Administration of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment, in addition to a number of volunteer teams, namely the Help Me Volunteer Team, the Asaad Shaab Volunteer Team, the Read and Enjoy Volunteer Team, the Volunteer Geniuses Team, the Basmat Khair Volunteer Team, the Emirates Parental Care Volunteer Team, in addition to students from the Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University, and the Dubai Charitable Society, which embodies the integration of roles between government agencies, volunteer teams, and educational institutions. And the community in supporting community initiatives and establishing a culture of giving.
This attendance comes as an extension of the efforts of the Community Development Authority to establish a culture of volunteering, expand the base of community participation, and strengthen partnerships with various sectors, which contributes to building a more cohesive and sustainable society and establishes Dubai’s position as a global model in community work and quality of life.
