المملكة: In 35 locations…a national campaign to vaccinate pets against rabies
The National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases launched «Prevention» A national campaign to vaccinate pets against Rabies, in 35 locations in various regions of the Kingdom, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote animal health and limit the spread of diseases common to humans and animals.
The center explained that the campaign aims to vaccinate pets against rabies, which is considered one of the most dangerous viral diseases common to humans and animals, and is often transmitted through biting or scratching from infected animals, affects the nervous system, and may lead to death if appropriate preventive treatment is not received in a timely manner.
Benefiting from vaccination services
Weqaa stated that the Kingdom pays great attention to combating rabies disease through implementing epidemiological monitoring programs, preventive vaccination of animals, investigation and rapid response to reports, in addition to raising the level of community awareness of the importance of vaccination and reporting suspected cases, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, in a way that contributes to strengthening the biosecurity and public health system.
The center indicated that the campaign will be held during the period from July 21 to 23, 2026 AD, daily from four in the evening until eight in the evening, calling on pet owners to take advantage of the free vaccination services and go to the designated sites in various regions of the Kingdom.
Weqaa stressed that this campaign comes as an extension of its efforts to prevent and control animal diseases and plant pests, and to achieve the goals of the One National Health Strategy, which aims to protect human and animal health and the environment, and enhance sustainability and food security in the Kingdom.
