Participants in "Dubai wet"Competition stimulates the quality of production and reinforces the status of the palm tree in society

DUBAI, July 19, 2017 (WAM) – Participants in the competitions of the first day of the third edition of the “Dubai Dates” event, organized by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for Heritage Revival, confirmed that this event has turned into a leading national platform that motivates farmers and palm trees to develop their production and improve the quality of date crops.

These confirmations came in special statements they made to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, following the conclusion of strong competitions in the “Largest Dubai Race,” “Largest Public Race,” and “Dubai Sweet” rounds.

These competitions, which received wide participation from all the emirates of the country and a large public presence, reflected the growing status of the festival as a forum that brings together farmers, institutions, and those interested in the palm sector, and at the same time embodied the great importance that the state pays to the palm tree as an integral component of the national identity and Emirati heritage.

The winner of second place in the “Dubai Sweets” round, participant Salem Abdullah Al Qaidi from the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, explained that this achievement came as a result of the continuous interest in the palm tree since the beginning of the season, through care in organizing irrigation, using appropriate fertilizers, and taking into account climatic conditions to ensure high-quality production.

Al-Qaidi expressed his happiness with this position during his second participation in the event, after he had won first place in the previous edition, praising the great support provided by the wise leadership for the festival, which constitutes an essential incentive to encourage farmers to develop their production and enhance their competitive presence.

Participant Salham Harmous Al Mazrouei, from Madinat Zayed in the Liwa region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, pointed to the continuous growth witnessed by the festival year after year, both in terms of the number of participants and the level of competition.

Al Mazrouei, who won second place in one of the “Largest Public Ideal” rounds and fourth place in the open round after winning third place in the previous round, said that the support of the wise leadership for the palm and agricultural sectors contributes greatly to encouraging farmers to continue giving, and he stressed that the most beautiful feature that distinguishes the “Dubai Dates” event is its gathering of palm people from various parts of the country in an atmosphere dominated by the spirit of cohesion, love and fair competition.

Participant Obaid Saeed Al Mazrouei, from the Al Dhafra region in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, stated that his keenness to follow and care for the palm tree throughout the season is what enabled him to achieve third place in the “Dubai Sweets” round this year, after his participation in the last edition in which he was not lucky enough to enter the top ten list.

Al Mazrouei expressed his ambition to compete strongly for first place during the upcoming sessions, directing his thanks and appreciation to the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for the Revival of Heritage and those organizing the event. He also highly appreciated the continuous support that farmers receive from the wise leadership, which played a vital role in consolidating the position of “Dubai Dates” as one of the most prominent national activities supporting palm trees and agricultural production in the country.
