The House of Philosophy hosts an Irthi Council for Contemporary Crafts in Fujairah

Fujairah, July 20 / WAM / The House of Philosophy in Fujairah hosted an Irthi Council for Contemporary Crafts, in cooperation with the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority, under the title “Emirati Traditional Crafts… Identity, Economy, and Sustainability,” with the participation of specialists and those interested in heritage and creative industries, to discuss ways to develop traditional crafts and enhance their cultural and economic role.

The Council highlighted the importance of Emirati crafts in consolidating national identity and supporting the creative economy, through developing craft skills, empowering Emirati women, and preserving cultural heritage and transmitting it to future generations.

The participants reviewed the importance of adopting an approach that achieves cultural, economic and environmental sustainability, pointing to cooperation experiences with international brands such as “Bulgari”, “Asprey” and “Cartier”, which contributed to empowering Emirati craftswomen and highlighting their products in the global creative system.

The Council stressed the importance of documenting traditional crafts, strengthening local and international partnerships, and presenting the craft heritage in a contemporary form that keeps pace with developments, thus contributing to the sustainability of craft industries and enhancing their position within the creative economy.
