Gold is at its peak two weeks before the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision

Gold prices rose today, Wednesday, to the highest level in two weeks, supported by technical purchasing operations, at a time when investors are awaiting the Federal Reserve (US Central Bank) meeting next week in search of indicators regarding interest rate expectations.

Gold rose in spot transactions 1.7 percent to $4,145.24 per ounce, after recording its highest levels since July 7 earlier today.

US gold futures for August delivery jumped 1.9 percent to $4,151.90 at settlement.
As for other precious metals, silver rose in spot transactions by 2 percent to $59.98 per ounce, platinum rose 0.7 percent to $1,640.63, and palladium increased 1.4 percent to $1,299.47.
