Cooperation between the Ajman Arbitration Center and the Higher Institute for Legal Training
Ajman, 24 July / WAM / The Ajman Arbitration Center at the Ajman Chamber signed a memorandum of understanding with the Emirates Association of Lawyers and Jurists and its training arm, the Higher Institute for Legal Training, with the aim of scientific and professional cooperation in the legal fields, enhancing joint work in developing the arbitration system and means of alternative dispute settlement, spreading legal culture and qualifying national competencies in the fields of arbitration.
The memorandum was signed at the Chamber’s headquarters by His Excellency Engineer Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Muwaiji, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ajman Chamber, and His Excellency Counselor Zayed Saeed Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Association of Lawyers and Jurists, in the presence of His Excellency Mahmoud Othman Abu Al Shawareb, Member of the Board of Directors of the Ajman Chamber, Hindi Obaid Al Matroushi, Secretary General of the Ajman Arbitration Center, and Dr. Salam Al Issa, Director General of the Higher Institute for Legal Training.
His Excellency Engineer Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Muwaiji praised the efforts of arbitrators and legal professionals in supporting the competitiveness of the economy, and their pioneering role in providing effective legal and arbitration solutions that contribute to accelerating the settlement of commercial disputes, thus establishing confidence in the business community and providing a safe and stable investment environment that is compatible with best international practices and standards.
He stressed the keenness of the Ajman Arbitration Center to expand the scope of its partnerships and enhance its cooperation with various parties, to enhance its role as a sustainable and reliable arbitration platform for settling commercial and economic disputes, and to keep pace with the rapid growth in various economic sectors in accordance with the latest arbitration practices.
He pointed out the importance of the existing partnership between the Center and the Association, which contributes to raising awareness of the importance of arbitration and spreading its culture as an effective tool to facilitate doing business and settling disputes efficiently and flexibly, in addition to supporting joint efforts to qualify national competencies in the field of arbitration.
For his part, Counselor Zayed Al Shamsi provided an overview of the efforts and services of the Emirates Association of Lawyers and Jurists, and the entities affiliated with the Association, including the Higher Institute for Legal Training, the Emirates Center for Legal Studies, the Emirates Center for Human Rights Studies, and the Media Center.
The memorandum of understanding stipulated the strengthening of joint cooperation between the two parties in the fields of training, legal qualification and arbitration, cooperation in developing the professional capabilities of workers in the legal field, enhancing awareness of relevant local and international best practices and standards, organizing conferences, seminars and specialized legal forums, preparing and implementing programs for qualifying arbitrators and experts, and exchanging scientific and practical experiences in the legal and arbitration fields.
The two parties agreed to diversify the training programs to include professional and specialized diplomas in arbitration, programs for preparing and qualifying arbitrators and experts, workshops and legal courses specialized in the field of arbitration, and conferences, forums and legal seminars in the field of arbitration, provided that the training programs and events are directed to lawyers and legal advisors, arbitrators and experts, employees of government agencies and the private sector, academics, researchers and law students, and those interested in the fields of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution methods.
