Van Dijk is upset with Liverpool’s offer

The Athletic newspaper revealed that Liverpool FC has made a new offer to team captain Virgil van Dijk in order to extend his contract.

The newspaper said that the English club’s offer did not meet the aspirations of the Dutch defender.

She continued: “Virgil van Dijk is very dissatisfied with the new offer made to him by Liverpool management.”

She added: “Liverpool made an offer to renew the contract with Dutch international Virgil van Dijk in an attempt to end the uncertainty about his future by tying the Dutch defender to a new contract, but it seems that things did not live up to the aspirations of both parties.”

She continued: “There is no progress yet regarding the value or duration of the deal, but talks are continuing.”

Van Dijk is one of three important players, along with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose current contracts are set to expire in the summer.
