المملكة: The Kingdom renews its commitment to supporting global education during the GPE meetings
It was held on December 4 and 5, 2024 at Expo Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, with a delegation headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for International Cooperation, Professor Dr. Nasser bin Muhammad Al-Aqili.
Support global education
Dr. Nasser Al-Aqili stressed the importance of education as a basic pillar for achieving sustainable development, praising the qualitative transformations witnessed by the Saudi education system in accordance with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
He pointed out the Kingdom’s aspiration to strengthen its partnership with the organization, to support education in low-income countries.
The meetings discussed a number of strategic issues related to the future of global education, including the organization’s 2030 strategy and a review of the annual performance report for 2024.
Support educational programs
This is in addition to adopting plans and procedures aimed at improving the effectiveness of the organization, while highlighting financial reports and future expectations to support educational programs.
On the sidelines of the meetings, the Undersecretary for International Cooperation, Dr. Nasser Al-Aqili, met with the Minister of State for International Cooperation in the UAE, Dr. Reem Al-Hashemi.
They reviewed aspects of joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, and ways to exchange experiences to enhance successful educational experiences.
The Kingdom’s participation in GPE meetings comes as an extension of its ongoing efforts to support education at the international level.


Supporting education in low-income countries
The Minister of Education, Mr. Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, previously signed a partnership agreement with the organization’s CEO, Ms. Laura Fregenti, in February 2024, to support education in low-income countries.
The Global Partnership for Education is the largest international fund dedicated to supporting education in low-income countries.
It aims to ensure the provision of comprehensive, high-quality education for children, under the supervision of a board of directors that includes representatives of donor countries and global partners to achieve sustainable education goals.
