The Department of Education and Knowledge in Abu Dhabi launches a program of activities during the winter vacation

Abu Dhabi, December 11, 2017 – The Department of Education and Knowledge in Abu Dhabi announced today the launch of a program of educational and training activities for the school holidays, which includes rich and diverse options that guarantee the participating students fruitful experiences during the school holiday.

This announcement comes in light of the remarkable success achieved by the summer programs earlier this year, ensuring a continuous series of purposeful programs during the school holiday, which reflects the department’s commitment to enhancing the comprehensive development of students and preparing them for success in the future.

The program will start on December 16, and includes programs to encourage students to continue learning outside the classroom and in various fields ranging from arts, sports, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, to the Arabic language, culinary arts, and environmental education.

The department cooperates with a group of leading institutions, including the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum, to organize the winter Creators Studio programme, which allows students to unleash their imagination and create works of art inspired by the Suhail star and the heritage stories of the Gulf region.

In the winter space programme, they can also participate in a series of creative scientific experiments aimed at promoting a culture of teamwork and creative expression.

In the field of sports, Manchester City FC, the Sport 360 platform, and Storm Academy provide dedicated two-day training programs in football, basketball and swimming, and the winners receive an invitation to join a program dedicated to exploring talents and training at the hands of elite coaches from Manchester City FC and the Junior League NB. The activities also include the Environmental Champions Program in cooperation with Gracia Farm, which stimulates a sense of environmental responsibility and commitment to sustainability among students through a group of practical activities, such as environmental tours, recycling, and environmental protection projects.

The department also cooperates with the most prominent universities to enable secondary school students to participate in many programs that provide practical experiences in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and programming.

Participants can choose between a group of programmes, such as the Future of Artificial Intelligence programme, in cooperation with School 42 Abu Dhabi, where they initially participate in the Discovery Picine intensive training programme, which tests the participants’ passion for programming, their ability to endure and commit, and concludes with the Artificial Intelligence Hackathon.

Activities offered by the program in other fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics include the Artificial Intelligence for a Sustainable Future program in cooperation with Khalifa University, the Artificial Intelligence Exploration Program from the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence, and the Command Engineering and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Training programs from the United Arab Emirates University. , the Artificial Intelligence Creativity Program from New York University Abu Dhabi, and the Winter Artificial Intelligence Program from Abu Dhabi University, all of which are designed to provide students with the technical skills necessary for the future.
