The national weightlifting team will be absent from participating in the Arab Championship competitions scheduled to be held in the Qatari capital, Doha, during the period from 26 to 31 December this year.

A source within the Weightlifting Federation revealed that the board of directors decided not to participate in the event. The Arab Weightlifting Championship competitions due to the severe financial crisis hitting the federation.

The “Rosa Al-Youssef Gate” learned that the Board of Directors of the Weightlifting Federation, headed by Mohamed Abdel Maqsoud, decided Not participating in the Arab Championship competitions for fear of a decline in the level of Egyptian players during the recent period.

 

A source said that the national team now includes a small number of male and female players, and that the players’ results have declined. The Egyptians in the last World Championship was a major reason for withdrawing from the Arab Championship.

 

The source explained that the level of Arab teams has developed rapidly during the recent period, especially those located within the continent of Asia, And that "Abd What is meant by " And his companions decided not to participate for fear of a new scandal hitting the Egyptian Federation.

 

The national weightlifting team had recently ended its participation in the World Championship competitions, which were held in Bahrain during the period of From 6 to 15 December, with the participation of a large number of teams.

 

The Weightlifting Federation recorded one of the worst participations in the world championships, after winning two silver medals. Only through national team player Sarah Samir in the 81 kg competition.

 

Our national team’s delegation to the tournament included 4 players, namely: Mahmoud Hosni in the 96 kg weight category and Yasser Hamdan in the 96 kg category. 102 kg, Sarah Samir in 81 kg, and Rahma Ahmed in 87 kg.

 

At the men’s level, the national team players achieved Disastrous results, as Mahmoud Hosni ranked eighth in the overall weight standings after lifting a weight of 171 kg in the snatch, 203 kg in the clean and jerk, and 374 kg in total, a difference of 14 kg from the first place holder and the gold medalist.
