An air strike on Sanaa International Airport during the presence of a high-level UN team

The team had completed its mission in Sanaa to negotiate the release of detained United Nations employees and assess the health and humanitarian situation in Yemen.

The attack came at a time when the UN team was about to board its plane.

Dr. Tedros said: “We must wait until the damage to the airport is repaired before we can leave. Myself and my colleagues at the UN and WHO are fine. Our heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in the attack.”
