Al-Gamal reveals developments in the draft labor law and the amendment to trade union organizations

 

The Board of Directors of the General Union of Construction and Wood Workers, headed by Abdel Moneim El Gamal, President of the General Federation of Egyptian Trade Unions, held a meeting to discuss what happened during the last period, and the future work plan.

Abdel Nasser Bakr, Secretary General of the Construction and Wood Workers Union, reviewed the agenda at the beginning of the meeting, as well as the activities of the past period related to the union, what was achieved and the requirements of the stage.

 

The meeting discussed the problems facing workers in the construction sector, and what is related to contracting, cement, ceramic, porcelain and china companies, and ways to find solutions to any problem facing workers.

 

For his part, Abdel Moneim El Gamal, President of the General Union of Construction and Wood Workers, directed the members of the Board of Directors of the importance of achieving the required communication with all union committees affiliated with the General Union, Stressing the need for continuous coordination in this regard.

 

Al-Gamal referred to the activities carried out by the union, including training courses, workshops and seminars in the sectors of occupational safety and health, as well as labor legislation.

He announced that the General Union will continue, during the coming period, to organize many events aimed at raising union awareness, and within the framework of the education plan for all workers in the building and construction sector.

Al-Jamal pointed out: Updates on the draft labor law, which the government is preparing to present to the House of Representatives, in preparation for its approval in the coming period.

The head of the General Union of Construction and Wood Workers confirmed that there had been participation in the dialogue sessions regarding the draft law, indicating that agreement had been reached on Articles of the draft new labor law, especially since there are many controversial articles. 

Abdel Moneim El-Gamal revealed that the General Federation of Egyptian Trade Unions has begun preparing proposals regarding amending the law on trade union organizations. And protecting the right to organize, explaining that a committee had been formed to study proposals to submit to the Ministry of Labor.

During the meeting, Ayman Abdel Aziz, legal advisor to the General Union of Construction and Wood Workers, reviewed the collective negotiations and legal moves that took place during the last period in favor of Workers affiliated with the General Union.
