Abdullah bin Zayed receives the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel
ABU DHABI, 7 JANUARY / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received today in Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Gideon Sa’ar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel.
His Highness welcomed His Excellency Gideon Saar, and they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the latest developments and developments in the region were also discussed, especially the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, and the two sides’ discussions touched on regional and international developments aimed at reaching a sustainable ceasefire.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan pointed to the urgent importance of pushing towards finding a serious political horizon to re-negotiate to achieve comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, which contributes to consolidating the foundations of stability, achieving sustainable security in the region, and ending the escalating violence it is witnessing.
His Highness stressed the importance of working to reach a permanent ceasefire and avoid the expansion of conflict in the region, noting that the priority is to end tension and violence, protect the lives of civilians, and make all efforts to facilitate the flow of urgent humanitarian aid.
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that the Middle East region is suffering from an unprecedented state of tension and instability, and needs to strengthen collective international action in order to end extremism, tension and escalating violence, and adopt an approach to peace, prosperity and development for the benefit of its people.
His Highness stressed the UAE’s support for the mediation efforts undertaken by the sisterly State of Qatar, the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, and the friendly United States of America to reach an exchange deal that leads to a permanent ceasefire and the release of hostages, as well as the adequate, safe and sustainable delivery of aid to civilians without any obstacles. His Highness pointed out that building peace in the region is the way to consolidate the foundations of sustainable stability and security in it and meet the aspirations of its people for comprehensive development and a decent life.
His Highness also affirmed the UAE’s firm commitment to supporting the brotherly Palestinian people and their right to self-determination, stressing the UAE’s firm fraternal positions towards the Palestinian people over the past decades.
He pointed out that the United Arab Emirates will spare no effort in extending a helping hand to the Palestinian brothers, and will continue to provide humanitarian initiatives to help them.
His Highness also stressed the need for concerted efforts by the international community to combat extremism, hatred, and racism and spread the values of tolerance, coexistence, and human brotherhood among peoples.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, His Excellency Saeed Mubarak Al-Hajri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Commercial Affairs, and His Excellency Mohammed Mahmoud Al Khaja, UAE Ambassador to the State of Israel.
