"National for Women" Participates in the fourth round of the Universal Periodic Review

Counselor Amal Ammar, President of the National Council for Women, left the country heading to Geneva to participate as part of a high-level government delegation, in the fourth round of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the human rights file of the member states of the United Nations, during the period from 24 to 28 January of this month. In Geneva, Switzerland, under the umbrella of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

 

Egypt participates in the universal periodic review, like the rest of the member states of the United Nations. To find out the latest developments in the field of promoting and protecting human rights, taking into account its international obligations, as Egypt participated in three previous rounds, and the current round is the fourth since the establishment of this mechanism.

 The Council also participates in the side event that It will be held tomorrow under the title “Social and Economic Progress and Empowerment in Egypt: Achievements and Challenges,” to present Egypt’s efforts in the field of women’s empowerment and protection, in line with international standards, covenants and conventions, which the Egyptian state has ratified in the field of women’s rights. Human resources, as well as reviewing the achievements achieved in this field, and identifying the existing challenges.
