Mohammed bin Rashid witnesses the “Fashion Friday” evening at the Meydan International Racecourse

Today, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, witnessed the “Fashion Friday” evening, held at the Meydan International Racecourse, which is one of the most prominent events in the Dubai Racing Carnival and horse racing in the Emirates. And the region, due to its high-level races, is classified in the international categories.
A group of the best horses in the world participated in the evening, which are preparing to compete in the 29th edition of the Dubai World Cup, scheduled to start next April 5. The evening included nine rounds of category races with the participation of 99 horses competing for total prizes amounting to 10.53 million dirhams.
The event was topped off by the sixth round, the Al Maktoum Challenge, Category One, which is a major preparatory race for the Dubai World Cup over a distance of 2,000 meters on a sand track, with prizes amounting to 3.68 million dirhams. A group of distinguished horses also participated in the race, most notably “Kabir Khan,” the defending champion.
The seventh round, “Jebel Hatta Race”, category 1, witnessed an exciting competition, as it represents a main station for the “Dubai Turf Race”, category 1.
The race was held over a distance of 1,800 meters on grass, with a total prize pool of 1.85 million dirhams. The evening also included races in the second and third categories, such as “Al Fahidi Fort” for 1,400 meters and “Blue Point Sprint” for speed, in addition to the “Firebreak Stakes” for the third category. In which the horse “Laurel River”, champion of the Dubai World Cup in its last edition in 2024, participated, as a preparation station for his next participation. In the Dubai World Cup, and the “Emirates 2000 Guineas” race for three-year-old horses.
The evening’s program also included distinguished races such as the “Al Shindagha Sprint”, category 3, for a distance of 1,200 metres, and the “Horse Trophy” race, which extends for a distance of 2,810 metres, while the evening opened with the Al Maktoum Challenge for purebred Arabian horses.
Since its launch in 2024, the “Fashion Friday” evening has achieved great success, attracting the elite of international horses, which has strengthened Dubai’s position as an international center for training horses during the winter.
