المملكة: The “Environment and Agriculture” aims to raise the efficiency of farmers and fruit nurseries in Taif

The office of the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Taif Governorate concluded the activities of the specialized training workshop that was held under the title “Good Technologies for the Management and Planting of Cuting Plants in fruit nurseries”.
This important workshop was organized in the fruitful cooperation between the branch and each of the sustainable agricultural rural development program known as the “Saudi countryside” and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization “FAO”, in addition to the General Department of Plant Resources in the Ministry.

Production of fruit seedlings

The workshop continued for three days, as it mainly targeted the owners of commercial nurseries specialized in producing fruit seedlings, as well as farmers and agricultural guides working in Taif Governorate.

The workshop mainly aimed to raise the level of their efficiency and develop their practical and cognitive skills in the fields of the management of fruit nurseries and the multiplication of its seedlings, within the framework of a broader project that seeks to enhance the capabilities of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Makkah Al -Mukarramah region to implement the “Saudi countryside” program effectively and efficiently.
The training program for the workshop includes a mixture of interactive theoretical sessions and direct practical applications. The axes covered by the definition of the most important items and standards contained in the manufacturing of the accreditation of the nurseries prepared by the ministry.

Best practices applied in nurseries management

The activities of the workshop included organizing a field visit to one of the nurseries, which is typical in the governorate, with the aim of enabling the participants to see closely about the best practices applied in the management of the nurseries, and watching the application of modern agricultural technologies on the ground.
The organization of this training workshop comes as an integral part of the ongoing efforts made by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture with the aim of developing the agricultural sector in the Kingdom, and upgrading the level of efficiency of workers in this vital sector.
Such initiatives directly contribute to supporting and achieving sustainable rural development goals, and are compatible with the targets of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, especially those that focus on enhancing food security and increasing local agricultural production.

The organizers emphasized that holding such events reflects a strategic direction towards transferring advanced agricultural knowledge to the targeted groups in a practical and field way.
She pointed out that this approach effectively contributes to improving the quality of local agricultural products.
It also enhances the sustainability of natural resources in the Kingdom, in order to support the agricultural sector and achieve its comprehensive development goals.
