المملكة: “Saudi countryside” aims to produce two billion rose annually by 2026

The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program, “Saudi Arabia,” reviewed its achievements in developing the rose and aromatic plants sector, during its participation as a participant in the International Forum for Roses and Aromatic Plants, which started its activities in Taif Governorate.
The program highlights its efforts in developing this vital sector, in line with the targets of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision in the areas of promotion of food security, the development of rural areas, and raising the efficiency of agricultural production.
The Assistant Secretary -General of the “Saudi countryside” program for media and communication, Majed Al -Braikan, affirmed that the program’s participation in the forum comes within the framework of supporting national efforts to empower roses and aromatic plants, and introduce the qualitative initiatives launched by the program in this sector, noting that “a countryside” is a strategic partner in achieving sustainable agricultural transformation, especially in the areas that are characterized by the production of sectarian roses and plants Aromatic like: Jizan and Asir.
Al -Braikan explained that the program supports more than 400 farmers, and has registered a growth in rose production by 34% during the past four years, to reach 960 million rose annually, with targeting reaching two billion rose by 2026, which enhances the Kingdom’s position in the regional and global markets as a major product of roses.
He added that the “Saudi countryside” program funded a number of qualitative projects in this field, the most prominent of which is the establishment of a factory to extract perfumes in Abu Arish, and the launch of advanced field schools based on artificial intelligence techniques; To analyze agricultural data and improve practices, in addition to creating specialized laboratories for tissue transplantation; In order to improve the quality of roses and raise the efficiency of production.
Al -Braikan pointed out that the forum represents an important opportunity to present the “Saudi countryside” experience in developing value chains for aromatic agricultural products, building partnerships, and opening new horizons for investment in this promising sector.
