المملكة: A memorandum of understanding to enhance climate services and protect biological diversity

The National Meteorological Center signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Center for Wildlife Development, on the sidelines of the activities of the Environment Week in Riyadh under the slogan “Our Environment Kenz”, with the aim of enhancing joint cooperation, providing meteorology and exchange of climate data to support the sustainability of natural environments.
The National Meteorological Center was represented in the signing of the memorandum, CEO, Dr. Ayman bin Salem Ghulam, while the National Center for Wildlife Development, CEO Dr. Muhammad bin Ali Qurban signed.

Natural disaster warning

The Memorandum of Understanding included a number of areas of cooperation, the most prominent of which are: Providing monitoring, forecasts and climate studies, benefiting from the early warning platform, technical linking with the corner services, building consolidating stations for the existing and future protected regions, in addition to setting a warning mechanism for natural disasters in protected areas, installing monitoring stations inside the centers of propagation and natural reserves, and adding reserves to “Ana” application.
The memorandum also includes cooperation in direct monitoring of climatic phenomena in righteousness and sea, predicting floods, torrents and acute droughts that may threaten the important environmental sites of biological diversity.
The signing of this memo comes within the framework of the two sides’ keenness to enhance institutional integration, and to achieve optimal benefit from technical capabilities and climate data to support environmental protection efforts and preserve biological diversity.
