"Sharjah relations" With an American delegation, the prospects for joint cooperation

Sharjah, May 6 / WAM / The Department of Governmental Relations in Sharjah discussed during its meeting today an American delegation that included representatives of the American embassy in the UAE and the American consulate in Dubai the prospects for joint cooperation in the sectors of culture, economy, innovation and sustainable development and the promotion of relations between Sharjah institutions and their counterparts in the United States.

The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of the Government Relations Department in Sharjah, in the presence of a number of heads and directors of government departments and economic and educational institutions on a visit that included a series of meetings and field tours to the most prominent bodies and institutions in the emirate.

The two sides discussed ways to document relations between Sharjah and American institutions and companies and explore the prospects for joint action.

The visit included a series of field rounds that included both the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, the Department of Economic Development, the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Sharjah Center for Entrepreneurship (Sail) and the municipal council of Khorfakkan, as well as a visit to the “House of Wisdom”.

Sheikh Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi affirmed the emirate’s commitment to enhancing communication with cultural and international cultural societies, noting that identifying global experiences and documenting relations with its pioneers supports the experience of institutions in the emirate and stimulates economic and cultural growth and establishes Sharjah’s position as a global destination for culture, business and sustainability.

During the visit of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sharjah), the American delegation reviewed its role in supporting entrepreneurs and emerging projects, and the two sides discussed the prospects for cooperation in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship, especially with regard to supporting startups and creative projects and exchanging experiences between Emirati and American institutions.

During the visit, “Sail” called on the American delegation to participate in the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival and the representatives of the American embassy expressed their interest in the initiatives linking American startups with the center to reflect the joint trend towards building cross -border companies that support the growth of the creative economy and open the way for more opportunities for future cooperation. Naguib, a political and economic specialist, and Nicole Sbitani, a specialist in the American consulate in Dubai, while the UAE side was attended by His Excellency Hamad Al -Mahmoud, head of the Department of Economic Development in Sharjah, Sarah Abdel Aziz in Haifa Al -Nuaimi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Center for Entrepreneurship (Sharaa), Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Al -Naqbi, Chairman of the Municipal Council of the city of Khor Fakkan, Abdel Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director General of the Communication and Business Sector in the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The American Embassy Mission visited the Department of Economic Development in Sharjah, where the most promising ingredients of the local economy and the promising investment opportunities in the emirate were reviewed, and the visit witnessed the discussion of ways to enhance economic cooperation between Sharjah and the United States and discuss the potential to build strategic partnerships that contribute to advancing growth and investment in sectors of common attention.

During its visit to the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, the mission also reviewed the development policies of the emirate and the available investment opportunities in various sectors, especially in the fields of creative economy, technology and the environment.

Within the visit program, the delegation conducted a meeting with the municipal council of the city of Khorfakkan, which highlighted the development and tourism projects taking place in the city and discussed the possibility of opening channels for cooperation in the areas of environmental and cultural tourism, given the unique natural and historical elements of Khorfakkan.

The delegation also met with the officials of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss the opportunities for trade and economic cooperation between the business community in Sharjah and the United States, in addition to reviewing the economic incentives available to foreign investors and the facilities provided to American businessmen who want to explore the region’s markets from Sharjah.

The delegation concluded its tour with an introductory visit to the “House of Wisdom”, the pioneering cultural project in Sharjah, where he was briefed on its various facilities and programs.
