المملكة: There is no validity to change the fees and duration of vehicle examination

A source in the Saudi Commission for Standards, Metrology and Quality denied, today, Tuesday, the authenticity of the information circulated on social media platforms on alleged changes in the “periodic technical examination” system of vehicles and its drawings.
The source emphasized that the current regulations related to the examination are still in effect and have not been amended until the date of this negation.
The source added: “The regulations are still applied regarding the examination of cars every year, and they have not been amended yet,” calling on everyone to draw information from their official sources and not to be drawn behind the rumors.

Periodic examination system

Inaccurate information has been spread that claimed amendments to the periodic examination system, including a reduction in the amount of the examination fee from 115 riyals to 91 riyals.
The rumors also included changes in the validity period of the examination certificate, as they promoted because private cars that exceeded three years will be requested to be examined every two years instead of the currently in place, while maintaining the annual examination of commercial vehicles, taxis and school transport, and exempting new cars for the first three years.
The official account of the Saudi Authority for Standards, Metrology and Quality stressed that “what is being circulated about a change in the periodic examination system is incorrect.”

Technical examination fees

It is noteworthy that the current system of the periodic technical examination of the new private vehicles requires that the examination be carried out after three years of licensing it for the first time, and then it is examined annually. As for taxis, public transport and new public buses, they are examined two years after the date of the initial license, and then undergoing the examination annually.
The periodic technical examination fees for the private vehicle are currently 115 Saudi riyals, “including value -added tax, at 15 riyals, on the financial compensation for the examination of 100 riyals”, while the re -examination fee for the private vehicle is 37,95 Saudi riyals “including value -added tax”.
