The United Nations: Israel has proposed one way to enter aid to Gaza, but it is not safe

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has reported that the Israeli authorities allowed him today, Wednesday, to reach the outstanding supplies at the Karam Abu Salem crossing, which entered during the past two days and did not include basic materials such as hygiene and fuel supplies.

Safety of aid and employees

Despite the entry of nearly a hundred trucks to this region, UN spokesman, Stephen Dujarric, assured journalists in New York not to transfer any aid to the United Nations warehouses in the sector.

He explained that until last night, the Israeli authorities did not allow the United Nations teams except to pass through one region very crowded, and the organization estimated that the proposed road “It is not safe, and looting is very likely due to the prolonged deprivation in Gaza since the closure imposed by the Israeli authorities for more than 11 weeks.”

In response to journalists ’questions, Mr. Dujarik said that the United Nations does not want to endanger its employees and the same aid to a greater risk of accepting the unsafe road.

He added that there is enough time today to move trucks if an agreement is reached on a new road. He said that the talks are ongoing with the Israeli side, and he also pointed out that the international teams are in contact with the leaders of Palestinian society to alleviate the threat of looting and ensure the supplies reach the needy.

But he said: “It is important to emphasize that the limited supplies that were recently allowed to enter Karam Abu Salem are not sufficient to meet the massive and huge Gaza needs. There is an urgent need to enter more aid.”

The continued displacement

Meanwhile, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that 80% of the Gaza Strip is now either subject to displacement orders or is located in Israeli military areas, while the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported the killing of dozens of Palestinians during the past 24 hours.

According to the United Nations partners, nearly half of the new displaced people have escaped over the past few days “Without any of their possessions.” In this context, Mr. Dujarik stressed the need to protect civilians, and said that the continuous displacement of the Gaza population “It puts huge pressure on humanitarian groups, especially in light of the lack of allowing any food or any basic materials.”

He said: “In Gaza City, our partners reported the sharp deficiency in the places of accommodation, and the sites of displacement, and that residential buildings are very crowded. People settle in deserted, incomplete, destructive or affected buildings. Some of them sleep in the open.”

The United Nations spokesman indicated that the attacks on health care facilities continued, the last of which was today at Al -Awda Hospital – the only hospital that works partially in the North Gaza Governorate.

He added that the water and sanitation situation “It deteriorates day by day.” He pointed out that the largest water desalination plant in the north of Gaza is located in an area subject to displacement orders, which led to the interruption of drinking water to about 150,000 people.

What is the point?

When asked about the feasibility of the current regime to deliver aid to Gaza, Mr. Dujarik said: “Under these circumstances, it is not easy and it is only possible to work with a little. We have had an opportunity to distribute aid according to our principles, and we have seen this opportunity. We strive to overcome all obstacles.”

He stressed that the United Nations position on the Israeli -American proposal on the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” has not changed, adding that the organization will continue to exploit “The best aid that was provided to us to distribute according to our principles.”

Funny shooting

A United Nations spokesman was asked about the “shooting incident at a diplomatic delegation in Jenin” in the occupied West Bank today, saying that the United Nations Secretary -General was concerned about “Israeli forces’ launch reports what it described as warning shots on diplomats, including members of the United Nations.”

He said: “The diplomats who do their job should never be subjected to fire or attacks in any way or image, and their safety must be respected at all times.”.

The UN spokesman added that any use of force against diplomats is unacceptable. He urged the Israeli authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident and take any measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

Roland Friedrich, Director of UNRWA in the West Bank, said on X that the Israeli forces opened fire today at a diplomatic delegation in the vicinity of Jenin camp during an official visit organized by the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He added that the UNRWA colleagues who were present at the site were fine and their safety was confirmed. He said: “This incident is a flagrant reminder of excessive and indulging use of the force that the Israeli forces resort to routinely in the West Bank and often have fatal consequences.

“Although the West Bank is not a war area, since the beginning of this year, 137 Palestinians have been killed in violence linked to the occupation,” said UNRWA official.

He pointed out that the Israeli army stated that it was investigating the incident, however, the allegations such as “the wrong belief that the delegation is a gift” and the launch of “warning shots” that do not reflect the seriousness of what happened today.

He said that the incident raises great concern about how to apply the rules of engagement to isolation civilians. Since the start of the “Iron Wall” operation launched by the Israeli forces on January 21, 2025, access to Jenin camp has become almost impossible, as Friedrich said.

He stated that all Palestine refugees were forcibly forced from the camp, and all UNRWA services were fully suspended. He stressed the need to restore safe human access, and allow the displaced to return immediately.
