The Eid also has a special feeling in the family’s home, which is the meeting of its generations, and the source of their memories, as it meets the small and the great, the grandfather and the grandson, in a warm family atmosphere.
Specialists, citizens and children confirmed to «Emirates Today» that the oud house is a social and psychological necessity, and a source of safety and beautiful memories.
In detail, the psychological and family counselor at the Women’s Renaissance Association, Dr. Jassim Al -Marzouki, said that the visit of the “Oud House” is not just a social habit, but rather represents a basic psychological need, which enhances the feelings of belonging and family warmth, especially during the holidays. He added that the “Oud House” constitutes the common root that brings together family members, and returning to it establishes the meanings of extension and communication between generations.
He explained that the meeting of children and grandchildren in one place contributes to restoring relations, strengthening family ties, and liquidating souls from the differences that may occur due to the concerns of daily life.
He continued: «These meetings, from a psychological perspective, contribute to reducing the feelings of isolation, and enhancing safety and reassurance, especially among the elderly, who are waiting impatiently for such occasions, to feel that they are still in the heart of the family and their appreciation.
“The Oud House”
The coach and family advisor in the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Action in Dubai, Dr. Ismail Kamel Al -Buraimi, said that modern technology has contributed to bringing the distances closer, especially with the family and far -relatives, but they are not compensated for the warmth of direct meetings on the feast.
He added that: «Video calls and messages (Social Media) may reduce the feeling of alienation, but it does not transmit the heat of peace, and does not embody the moment of the mother’s bosom or the look of the grandmother at the meeting of the children around it.
He added that the feast is not just leaflets on social media, but rather a real occasion that lives with feelings, meetings, sound and laughter, which cannot be replaced by modern means of communication.
Regarding the importance of linking young people to the traditions of the feast, he stressed the need for parents to take the initiative to take their children to family councils, to learn that the holiday is not only new clothes, but it is respect for the great, sympathy for the young, and to participate in authentic customs within the “oud house”.
He explained that «when children help pour coffee, receive guests, or distribute Eid, they feel their value, and they are more attached to the councils, and they learn the language of Emirati dialogue, and the guest.
On the role of grandparents in transferring religious and social values, Al -Buraimi explained that the ancestors are the crown of councils, the support of the family, and with their presence the meanings of mercy are embodied, and the true significance of the feast is sensed. He cited the saying of the Prophet: “The blessing is with your elders,” noting that “the ancestors are the moving memory that links the present to the past, and it carries between the experiences and lessons, and the stories of life that links the teachings of religion and authentic Emirati customs.”

Regarding the value of the “oud house” on the feast, Mona Al -Hai confirmed that “the meeting of the children and grandchildren about the grandfather and grandmother during the days of Eid is a great human scene, and an invaluable grace.”
She added that the “Oud House” symbolizes splendor, bond and safety, and that his visit during the feast embodies the spirit of family bonding, as relatives from various places are keen to attend and peace on the great family, which reflects the depth of love and the sincerity of communication between generations.
She stressed the importance of preserving this authentic habit, which is one of the most prominent aspects of Eid in Emirati society.
Al -Shehhi Kindergarten recalled the most beautiful details under the roof of the oud house, where “prestige, dignity and giving meet, and Arabic coffee is offered from the hands of girls, along with traditional Eid dishes such as lattat, coffee and coffee, which express the generosity of hospitality and the spirit of originality. And everyone who enters the house has its place, for the small is happy with it, and the great is estimated, and everyone is treated with love and respect.
She said: «In the corners of the house, the scents of the UAE oud and the perfume remain a witness to an unforgettable presence, and unforgettable memories. Even those who left the world, their memory remains alive, and their impact is apparent in every corner, as if they are still between us .. The oud house, with the memories, occasions and successes it carries, remains a source of warmth, and a mirror of an identity that is not absent.
An unforgettable taste
Lubna Al -Hai regained childhood memories on the feast, noting that “the most beautiful moments were accompanied by grandfather, grandmother, aunts and neighbors, as children were keen on peace on all the senior family to obtain the Eid, which was then ranged between dirhams and five dirhams.”
She added: “My grandmother, may God have mercy on her, was keen to make us happy, and she was bringing surprises to us, such as the Boufak chips, which we were racing to get.”
She explained that “the Eid Al -Ayda tour was not limited to the family home, but rather extended to the homes of neighbors, in long walks on foot, whether in summer or winter, in search of the highest Eid, as it is considered the one who collects the largest amount distinctive among children.”
Al -Hai also talked about the atmosphere of the feast inside the oud house, where joy is not complete except by eating traditional sweets, stressing that “there are types of chocolate that have a special nature in memory, as each child had his favorite flavor, while orange chocolate remained from the strangest flavors that they preferred.” She also referred to a kind of preserved biscuit in a metal blue box, which was accepted by all children, describing it as “fragile, delicious, and sugar covered.”
The new generation and nostalgia
On the nostalgia for the memories of the feast in the “Oud House” with the young generation, Mira Ali (21 years old) said: “When I was a child, I was waking up for the morning of the feast with great enthusiasm, and I wore the most beautiful dress in preparation for receiving Eid, and my biggest goal was to collect the largest amount possible from it.”
She added: “Today, my priorities have changed, and elegance is still part of preparation, but the most important thing is to meet the parents, the participation of children with their joy, and spending a warm family time that does not compensate.”

We hope that this beautiful habit will return in the coming years, especially since the atmosphere improves year after year. ”

Afra Abdel Baset saw that the grandfather and grandmother constitute the spirit of Eid, noting that their presence gives the occasion a special character and a deeper meaning for the family home.
She said: “Without them, the feast loses a large part of its beauty, so their smile, their calls, and their simple conversations make an atmosphere of reassurance that does not compensate.”
On the feast of grandfather and grandmother, she said that it is different from others, as it is not just a cash amount, but rather a special symbolism, expressing love and attention. She pointed out that what distinguishes Eid is that it is given from sincere hearts, and a generous support that the grandchildren used to pray and give, so the closest to their hearts remains no matter how old they are.

On the joy of the feast in the eyes of the children, the child Medea Ali (8 years old) said that her grandmother’s house on the feast is the most beloved place to her heart, because it brings the family from the uncles, aunts, uncles, aunts, their sons and daughters, in a delightful atmosphere that includes sweets, juices, and maids.
As for Saeed Ali (14 years old), he confirmed that visiting the grandmother’s house during the feast is a special moment, because it brings together relatives who always meet them.
He added: “The most beautiful moments of the feast are to wear new clothes, see my grandmother, and get the Eid, in addition to the collective photos that we document these memories twice a year.”
