The Brazilian President visits the INTERPOL headquarters and praises the vital role played by the organization headed by Ahmed Nasser Al -Raisi

Lyon on June 9/ WAM/ Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva made an official visit to the headquarters of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) in the French city of Lyon and was received by Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al -Raisi, head of the organization.

The visit was a prominent station in the path of international security cooperation, as it witnessed the signing of a declaration of intentions between Brazil and INTERPOL, with the aim of enhancing coordination in the field of combating organized crime and crossing crime, and developing technical tools to support security efforts at the regional and global levels.

The President Lula praised the vital role played by INTERPOL, stressing that it is an indispensable platform to achieve collective security, especially as it has a history that extends for more than 100 years, and includes 196 countries, which makes it the largest international organization in terms of the number of members.

He expressed his country’s commitment to enhance cooperation with the multilateral security services, based on the responsibility of Brazil as a pivotal force in Latin America.

For his part, Major General Ahmed Nasser Al -Raisi welcomed this visit, appreciating the status of Brazil as a pivotal country in the efforts to combat organized crime on the continent.

Interpol stressed the endeavor to expand its partnerships with countries with advanced police capabilities, in order to enhance regional and international stability.

In the context of international honor and appreciation, Major General Al -Raysi granted the President Lula da Silva the Interpol Medal of the upper class, in appreciation of his distinguished contributions to crime control at national, regional and international levels.

This visit is the first for a Brazilian president to the INTERPOL headquarters and is a milestone in the path of international security cooperation, and reflects the growing support of the organization of the organization’s role under an effective Arab leadership represented by the UAE through the presidency of Major General Al -Raysi.
