The German Federation is condemned with tax fraud

The German authorities have condemned the German Football Association for tax fraud in a case dating back to the 2006 World Cup, and was fined on Wednesday with 130,000 euros by a German court.
A judge in the Frankfurt Court, western Germany, said that former union officials “deliberately defrauded the tax authorities, without a doubt.”
The Public Prosecution demanded a fine of 270 thousand euros, but the court eventually decided to be 130 thousand.
This issue, which was opened in March 2024, is centered on paying about 6.7 million euros to the committee responsible for organizing the World Cup to cover the expenses of a supposed ceremony that was canceled, and therefore its cost is not subject to tax discount.
The total unpaid taxes for the 2006 World Cup is more than 13.7 million euros.
According to the court, the head of the World Cup Organizing Committee, the late German football legend Frantes Beckenbauer, who died in January 2024, used the amount of 6.7 million euros to bribe members of the Finance Committee of the International Federation of the game (FIFA) with the aim of obtaining support of 170 million euros from the higher football authority.
After the scandal, the German Football Confederation retroshes retroactively from its characteristic as a non -profit organization.
Judge Eva-Mary Distler considered that the reputation of the German Federation was “distorted” as a result of what happened, saying, “The German Football Association cannot escape punishment, even if football is the preferred sport for the Germans.”
The judge ruled that the German Federation CEOs “paid unannounced payments and supported the FIFA Corporal System.”
The charges against the former presidents of the Union Theo Tesvantegger (2006-2012), Wolfgang Nersbach (2012-2015) and former Secretary-General Horst Rodolph Schmidt (2001-2006 then treasurer from 2007 to 2013), but with fined them with fines ranging from 10 thousand and 65 thousand euros each of them.
