Member of the Committee of the Basketball Federation, the Director of Competitions, Ali Al-Amiri, revealed three speculations facing the next season, which begins in mid-September in the Federation Cup, most notably the crowded agenda in regional and Asian entitlements, as a result of the participation of the Sharjah and Al-Ahly youth teams in the “Super-West Asia” qualified to the Asian Cup.

Al -Amiri told «Emirates Today»: “The Competitions Committee is facing three great challenges for the new season, in how to build a fair and fair calendar for all teams, especially since the external posts impose five days a week, in which the matches of local competitions cannot be played, in addition to increasing the possibility of difficulty finding halls to crowd them during the week’s holiday, in addition to periods of the national team gathering for its entitlement to the Asian qualifiers.”

He explained that «the Competitions Committee is still awaiting the announcement of the Asian Federation of its agenda, whether for the West Asian League Championship, or the Asian qualifiers for the teams, but the committee puts possible scenarios based on the previously used map by the continental federation, especially since two teams of the representatives of the same state, cannot play in the same group or on the same day on the level of the West Asian Super League Sharjah and Al -Ahly youth will play in the middle of the week on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. ”

He added: «One of the two teams will travel on Sunday, and the second team follows it on Monday, which means that the return from the continental entitlement will be Wednesday, which imposes on the competitions committee to limit the determination of the matches at the weekend, which raises the possibility of difficulty finding the halls, and conflicting its dates with other games for the handball, plane or hall ball. He continued: «We are taking into account the gatherings of the national team in preparation for its return to the Asian qualifiers, which is a new challenge in the ability to not conflict the assembly periods with the participation of external clubs, until the entitlement of local competitions.

Al-Amiri pointed out that the Competitions Committee possesses sufficient experiences to deal with the challenges, and said: “We presented an exceptional season by all standards in 2024-2025 despite his crowded agenda, as a result of the participation of the first team in the Asian qualifiers, in addition to Al-Ahly youth entitlements, which crowned a champion of the Gulf region in the Super West Asian League, and then played (Final 8), followed by the Champions League. He continued: «We managed for the first time in the last season, to maintain the level of competitiveness even for the teams that were not written to reach the final rounds in the league championship for the continental entitlements of the clubs, by imposing the crowning ceremony of two champions, the first of which is the league champion that was crowned by Sharjah Club, and the second is the champion of the second level competition that crowned by Al Dhafra Club, and was devoted to the teams that finished the” preliminary “in the fifth to the fifth, in the league.
