Sharjah Heritage Institute opens a conference "Folk heritage in the eyes of the other "

Sharjah, on July 2 / WAM / The Sharjah Heritage Institute was launched today, the work of the second heritage conference under the slogan “Folk Heritage in the Children of the Other”, at the Arab Heritage Center of the Institute in the University City in Sharjah.
The conference was attended by Dr. Abdulaziz Al -Muslim, President of the Institute and Al -Kindi, the director of the institute, along with a group of researchers, experts and academics from inside and outside the country representing more than 20 Arab and foreign countries in addition to representatives of local and international media.
The conference continues for two days and includes more than 40 scientific posts from experts and academics, during which they discuss the manifestations of folklore as the other saw through research papers, dialogue sessions and specialized workshops.
Dr. Abdulaziz Al -Muslim said that the second edition of the conference came under the slogan (Popular Heritage in the Children of the Other), a title that holds us responsible for meditation in the way we are viewed to our heritage by the other over the centuries, whether through the writings of travelers, orientalists ’studies or various foreign documents.
He added that this conference not only aims to review these visions, but also seeks to dismantle them, analyze them and re -read them from a critical, critical perspective and balance between justice and what he overlooked and discussed in the contexts from which these mental images were born.
He stressed that the popular heritage constitutes a bridge for human dialogue and a platform for the intersection of cultures, pointing out that the heritage is not a static past but rather alive in the conscience of peoples and a source of deep understanding of the self and the other together and through this event we re -provide our popular heritage as a substance for thinking, interaction and openness.
The Muslim expressed his appreciation for the care of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah for the conference, reflecting a firm belief in the importance of preserving collective memory, enhancing cultural dialogue with the world and the consolidation of Sharjah as an international reference in issues of heritage and cultural pluralism.
Al -Muslim added that Sharjah, led by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, has attached great importance to translation as a civilized and knowledge bridge and a platform for the exchange of cultural visions between peoples and today we review how our popular heritage was addressed in the writings of orientalists, academic studies and artistic works to understand how the image of Arab heritage was formed in the awareness of the other and we re -present it with renewed scientific awareness that enhances the position of our culture in the world.
In turn, Abu Bakr Al -Kindi stressed that the organization of this conference comes within the efforts of the Sharjah Institute for the ongoing heritage in promoting cultural and cognitive interaction on Arab folklore and highlighting its presence in the awareness of the other and developing the tools of Souna and its documentation, as the conference reflects the institute’s commitment to support scientific research and international cultural partnerships that contribute to the protection of heritage and its transfer to future generations, as it confirms the keenness of Sharjah to be a global platform for dialogue and understanding between different cultures.
Dr. Saif Al -Badawi affirmed the personality of the conference for this year that preserving heritage represents a basic pillar of the national identity, saying that heritage strengthens our belonging to the homeland and gives us a motive for work, giving and giving, as it is not just a past that is narrated, but rather lessons and across our way to the future.
Dr. Mona Bounaamah, Director of Content and Publishing Department at the Institute and the conference coordinator, said that the Heritage Conference clearly expresses the directions of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage to achieve the difference at the scientific and heritage levels by presenting topics that reveal the cultural participants that bring the world heritage.
He added that the new session highlights the image of the East in the West mirror through an in -depth reading of Western journey blogs and the perceptions and rulings it carries with the aim of enhancing dialogue and understanding with the other, not from the matter of imposition, but through bridges of cultural communication.
He stressed that the conference contributes to the consolidation of Sharjah’s position as a cognitive center for the dialogue of civilizations and reflects a renewed awareness of the importance of cultural foresight in building relations between peoples. It is also an intellectual platform for exploring identity representations in Western awareness and an opportunity to correct stereotypes with accurate scientific approaches.
