A new start for old names .. Coronado’s return opens the door of “Nostalgia Stadiums”

Sharjah Club has contracted with the Brazilian star Igor Coronado, the file of the return of foreign players who had previously shine in the ADNOC Professional League, then left for external professional experiences, before returning again as they are betting on the restoration of their previous glow.
Although this phenomenon, which is called “Nostalgia, stadiums” – that is, nostalgia for the past – is met in its infancy with a large mass and media hospitality, based on what the players presented in their first experiences, the technical and statistical reality often violates expectations.
And between the hopes of restoring the sparkle of the past, and previous experiences that proved the opposite, the Emirates Today sheds light on the most prominent names that tried to restore their memories in the Emirati stadiums, as some of them did not succeed in rewriting glory as it was before, and in return, two cases were recorded in the stadiums, the Sharjah star Kayo Lucas, and the Syrian Al -Wahda striker Omar Khreibin.
Issa Obaid: Many players return to tourism … and clubs only earn memories
Issa Obaid: This return was often not feasible, but rather a financial and technical burden on clubs.
The former international player and sports analyst, Issa Obaid, criticized the phenomenon of the return of foreign players to the ADNOC League after external experiences, considering that the clubs are only nostalgic for the past with a phenomenon called “Nostalgia stadiums”.
Obaid said in statements to “Emirates Today”: “This return is often not feasible, but rather a financial and technical burden on the clubs, and the expected addition has not been provided.”
He added: “Most of the players who return to the Emirati league do not appear at the same level that they presented in their first experiences, and the exception was for rare cases that do not reflect the rule.”
He continued: “Many of these players exceeded 30 years of age, and their artistic bid retreated in the leagues they left, so their chances of playing there became almost non -existent, and here it is not only about the age, but also the motives.”
“The return is not motivated by competition or the addition of the addition, but rather is related to the great financial returns they get from the Emirati clubs, based on their previous stardom and their mass popularity, while the clubs only reap memories.”
He pointed out that «clubs often fall into the trap of (Nostalgia), so they return players shining in the past, in the hope of restoring the sparkle itself, but they ignore that this phenomenon has not proven its usefulness in light of professionalism.
He concluded: “I do not doubt that some of these players have returned for reasons other than football. Residence in the UAE means the quality of life, social safety, and luxury that are not available in many countries, so I say it frankly that many of them have returned to tourism more than returning to competition.”
. Many names failed to return to the sparkle of the past … and Lucas and Khribin “exception.”
