Mohamed Al -Murr keeps the head of the Emirates Athletics Federation until 2028

The quorum of the General Assembly of the Athletics Federation was completed with the presence of 23 representatives of the country’s athletics clubs, as the elections took place under the supervision of a committee chaired by Ahmed Saeed Al -Suwaidi, and the membership of each of, Ahmed Al -Jabri and Khaled Al -Balushi.
The candidate of Sharjah Club, Nasser bin Ashour, obtained the highest votes in the elections of the members of the Board of Directors, after collecting 18 votes, followed by the candidate of the Musfout Club Faisal Al -Khumairi with 16 votes, and the candidates of Al -Rassam Club Fahd Abdullah, and the candidate of Al -Nasr Club Jamila Abdullah with the number of votes (14 votes each), and the Al -Arabi Club candidate Rashid Nasser obtained 13 votes.
The Sharjah Sports Club for Women, Khawla Sawani, won the women’s seat, with 15 votes compared to eight votes obtained by her competitions and Abu Dhabi Athletics Club Noura Al Ansari.
He left the election race, Al -Wasl Club candidate Mohamed Ali Amer after he got 12 votes, the Hatta Ali Hassan Al -Badawi club candidate with the same number of votes, the candidate of Al -Ahly Youth Club, the former international champion Omar Al -Salaf, who won only six votes, and the candidate of Abu Dhabi Athletics Club Abdullah Al Hammadi who won 10 votes.
According to the guidelines of the Athletics Union, the President of the Federation has the right to choose two members from outside the list of candidates, to join the membership of the Board of Directors.
After announcing the results, Major General Mohamed Al -Murr said in press statements: “The next stage will witness an intense work, and we seek athletics to be a popular sport for all citizens and residents, and we have a great responsibility that we will work to bear in cooperation with clubs and sports councils. We aim to achieve tangible results and better application of the federation’s strategy.”
He added: “We presented the Ministry of Sports a long -term strategy that extends until 2032, and we hope that the new council will abide by its application and development in a way that serves the future of the game, and we are committed to turning this vision into reality.”
