The Foreign Minister is making two phone calls to Foreign Ministry of Cote d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Affairs of Egyptians abroad, d. Badr Abdel -Ati, on Friday, October 3, 2025, two calls to Mr. Lyon Kaku Adom, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cote d’Ivoire, and Mr. Karamoko Jean Traore, Burkina Faso Foreign Minister, as part of the efforts to mobilize support to nominate Dr. Khaled Al -Anani for the position of Director General of UNESCO in the elections scheduled for October 6, 2025.

The contacts, Minister Abdel -Ati expressed Egypt’s deep appreciation to the positions of Cote d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso supporters of the Egyptian candidate, stressing that this support embodies the unity of the African position and reflects the commitment of African countries to enhance the continental solidarity behind the candidate accredited by the African Union in a way that contributes to pushing African priorities and interests in regional and international organizations. Communications are ways to enhance bilateral relations with Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso, especially the economic, developmental and investment fields in order to achieve the interests and aspirations of African peoples, again Egypt’s commitment to continuing consultation and coordination with the sister African countries to promote effective African representation within the UNESCO and support educational, cultural and scientific issues of interest to the African continent in a way that is consistent with the agenda of the African Union Development 2063.
