A goalless draw between Qatar and Oman in the opening of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup
The match between Qatar and Oman was decided in a goalless draw, which was held this evening, Wednesday, at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. In Doha, in the first round of the first group of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
With this tie, each team earned one point, awaiting the results of the rest of the group matches, which also includes the UAE national team.
The Asian playoff system, in which six teams participate, divided into two groups, each containing three teams, stipulates that the winner of each group qualifies directly to the World Cup 2026, while the second-placed teams from the two groups will meet in a playoff match to determine the team that qualifies for the global playoff.
The UAE national team is scheduled to meet its Omani counterpart next Saturday in the second round of the first group, with the UAE national team facing its Qatari counterpart next Tuesday at the conclusion of the group matches.
