The Olympic Committee congratulates President Sisi and the Egyptian people on the national team’s advancement to the 2026 World Cup

The Board of Directors of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, headed by Engineer Yasser Idris, extended its sincere congratulations to the political leadership and His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the occasion of Egypt’s first national football team’s well-deserved qualification to the 2026 World Cup finals, after an outstanding performance during the qualifying campaign.

The Board of Directors of the Egyptian Olympic Committee also congratulated all members of the sports system led by Professor Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports and the Board of Directors of the Football Association. Headed by Engineer Hani Abu Rida, the Pharaohs team has a technical staff and players led by Brigadier General Hossam Hassan, the technical director. The Olympic Council singled out the Egyptian people for this achievement, hoping that it would be a step towards returning to continental leadership and a strong presence in the World Cup.

Engineer Yasser Idris praised  With the great effort made by the national team to achieve this achievement, which pleased millions of Egyptians.

The President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee confirmed that the Egyptian national team has returned to its natural place among the top African continent among the nine teams representing Africa in the World Cup, expressing his confidence in the ability of the technical staff and players to provide an honorable performance in the upcoming World Cup finals, as well as in the upcoming African Cup of Nations.

He concluded. Idris made his statements, saying: “The qualification of the Egyptian national team is the result of collective work and effort, and evidence that Egyptian sports are moving steadily toward internationalism with the support of the political leadership and the awareness of its sports institutions.”
