The Ugandan Embassy in the country celebrates National Day

Abu Dhabi, 9 October / WAM / The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda to the UAE held a reception on the occasion of its country’s National Day, in the presence of Maha Harkous, Deputy Director of the African Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ceremony, which was held at the Rixos Marina Hotel in Abu Dhabi, was also attended by a number of officials and members of the Arab and foreign diplomatic corps accredited to the country.

In his speech on this occasion, His Excellency Zaki and Nomi Kebede, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to the UAE, touched on the strong relations between the UAE and the Republic of Uganda since its founding in 2007, stressing the keenness of the leadership of the two countries to enhance cooperation in order to achieve the development goals of the two countries and the two friendly peoples.

His Excellency drew attention to the recent mutual visits and meetings between the UAE and the Republic of Uganda, which resulted in promising opportunities to further develop bilateral relations at the economic, trade, cultural, developmental, political and other fields that contribute to strengthening and deepening cooperation.

He stressed the depth of relations between the UAE and the Republic of Uganda, stressing his country’s keenness to consolidate cooperation in various fields, in order to achieve common interests.
For her part, Maha Harqous said: “It is an honor for me to participate with you in celebrating the sixty-third anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uganda, adding that the UAE appreciates Uganda’s constructive leadership, and on the occasion of celebrating this anniversary, the UAE extends its warmest congratulations to the government and people of Uganda.”
She pointed out that the two countries signed agreements in the fields of energy, infrastructure, transportation and digital services, noting that the UAE is Uganda’s first trading partner, as the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries has doubled in 2024, reaching 2.85 billion US dollars.
The ceremony included the performance of traditional dances from the folk art of the Republic of Uganda.
