The Minister of Local Development follows up on developments in the implementation of the Ibrahim B Street development project"Korba"

Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, followed up on the executive position of the Ibrahim Street development project in the sector connecting Al-Ahram and Baghdad Streets in the Korba area in the Heliopolis neighborhood in Cairo Governorate, the implementation work of which began last July in coordination with the governorate, the National Apparatus for Cultural Harmonization, and a number of ministries and concerned authorities, within the framework of the Ministry of Local Development’s plan to develop heritage and historical areas in a number of Governorates.
Dr. Manal Awad indicated her follow-up with the Ministry’s Strategic Management and Local Development Sector, headed by Dr. Saeed Helmy, Head of the Sector, for the ongoing development work, as the implementation rate until the first week of this October reached about 75%, noting that the project comes within the framework of the state’s comprehensive plan to improve the cultural and aesthetic landscape of areas with a distinctive character, And preserving the heritage appearance of Khedivial Cairo and its surrounding areas.
The Minister of Local Development confirmed that the development work being implemented includes organizing the external extensions of commercial stores, unifying paint colors, facade heights, and places for installing air conditioning devices, in a way that achieves visual and cultural coordination of the region and preserves its unique architectural character.
Dr. Manal Awad explained that The development and upgrading of the facades of 64 commercial stores within the scope of the project has been completed so far, and it is targeted to complete 100% of the facade painting and finishing work by the end of this October.
The Minister of Local Development added that the work is proceeding in parallel with the implementation of public facilities (electricity – telephones), and permits for sewage and natural gas works are being issued, in preparation for transforming the street. It will be completely transformed into a pedestrian path after the completion of the utility works and the start of the installation of the interlock during the first week of next November.
Dr. Manal Awad indicated that this development comes within the state’s direction to improve the quality of life in vital areas with high traffic densities, by converting some selected streets into safe paths equipped for pedestrians, which contributes to reducing traffic congestion and improving the quality of the environment. Urban.
The Minister of Local Development concluded by emphasizing that the development of Ibrahim Street represents an integrated model of the Ministry of Local Development’s cooperation with the executive agencies of Cairo Governorate to restore the aesthetic face of the capital and revive the spirit of heritage Cairo in line with the state’s trend towards developing city centers and historical neighborhoods.
