Conclusion of the first annual meeting of the Regional Asset Recovery Network for the Middle East and North Africa

The first annual meeting of the Regional Asset Recovery Network for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA – ARIN), held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was concluded in the presence of Attorney General Counselor Muhammad Shawqi, with the participation of a number of Arab and African countries, and representatives of some international organizations.
This meeting is the official launch. For the Regional Asset Recovery Network for the Middle East and North Africa region; To be a regional platform that facilitates effective communication between national contact points concerned with identifying, tracking, freezing, seizing and confiscating assets, in an effort to strengthen efforts aimed at recovering illicit assets at the regional and international levels, without prejudice to relevant national laws and international agreements. The meeting ended with the announcement that the United Arab Emirates will host the network’s annual general meeting for the year 2026.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Attorney General met with his counterpart, the Attorney General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in a meeting considered the first of its kind between the two prosecution offices. The two parties agreed that this meeting represents an important step towards building closer cooperation and strengthening institutional relations between The two sides.
The meeting also concluded the importance of preparing an expanded memorandum of understanding that includes joint cooperation mechanisms, most notably the organization of joint training courses aimed at exchanging experiences and enhancing professional competence between members of the two prosecution offices.
