President Sisi affirms Egypt’s full support for UNESCO during his reception of Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, the organization’s Director-General-elect

 President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, today, Dr. Khaled El-Anani, Director-General-elect of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdel-Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs.

 

 

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated The President began the meeting by renewing his congratulations to Dr. Khaled Al-Anani on the occasion of his overwhelming victory in the elections for the Executive Council of UNESCO, his obtaining the support of 55 countries out of 57, and his election as Director-General of the organization, stressing that this victory represents a historic achievement for Egypt that reflects its high status and the world’s appreciation for its cultural heritage and intellectual contributions.

 

 

The President  expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the countries that supported Egypt’s candidate, stressing that the international confidence that Dr. El-Anani enjoyed is also confidence in Egypt and its standing, and stressing the importance of continuing close cooperation between Egypt and UNESCO in the fields of education, culture and preservation. Human heritage, and supporting the values of peace, tolerance and coexistence among peoples.

 

 

For his part, Dr. Khaled Al-Anani expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the President for his great support, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its ambassadors, the Egyptian mission to UNESCO, and all the national bodies that contributed to achieving this victory, stressing that This international trust places on him a double responsibility to enhance international cooperation in protecting human heritage, spreading knowledge, and consolidating the values of dialogue and peace. The meeting concluded with Egypt’s full commitment to supporting UNESCO’s activities and humanitarian initiatives, and joint work to build bridges of communication between cultures and civilizations.
