Red Cross spokesman: All hail to Egypt and the mediators for their efforts to achieve a ceasefire

Dr. Hisham Muhanna, spokesman for the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Gaza Strip, confirmed in special statements to Nile Radio that the committee’s crews in the Gaza Strip and Israel are working around the clock in preparation for the implementation of the ceasefire agreement reached in Sharm El-Sheikh, and the provisions it contains related to the release of Palestinian prisoners and detainees.
Muhanna explained that the committee works with the utmost professionalism to ensure the safety and dignity of all released, noting that the work also includes dealing with human remains that will be exchanged between the two parties.
He added that the Red Cross teams are intensifying their humanitarian efforts in Gaza, as the response has not stopped over the past two years, but rather has increased its pace, especially in Gaza City, pointing out that the committee supervises visits to prisoners before their release through its representatives and doctors. Muhanna stated that critical medical cases will be transferred in cooperation with the Palestinian Red Crescent upon their arrival in the Gaza Strip via the Kerem Shalom crossing, while coordination is underway on the other side to complete the release of detainees by the Hamas movement.

The Red Cross spokesman concluded by saying: “We are not just satisfied, the mission is still long. We have years of work ahead of us to rebuild what the war destroyed, not only in infrastructure but also in human dignity in Gaza. We have witnessed daily atrocities, displacement and suffering, and this agreement must be sustainable and put an end to this equation that is neither humanitarian nor legally acceptable.
