The secretariat explained that the General Administration teams to monitor and treat negative phenomena carried out a field campaign on a site in the “Umm al-Salam” neighborhood that was converted from a rest house into an irregular factory for preparing sweets and pastries using spoiled and expired materials, in an environment that lacks the minimum elements of hygiene, and the spread of insects and rodents, which It poses a threat to public health.

The secretariat indicated that the campaign was implemented in coordination with the Umm al-Salam Sub-municipality and the Department of Group Housing for Individuals, and in participation with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Food and Drug General Authority, the Ministry of Commerce, and Field Control, and resulted in the seizure of large quantities of food and products ready for distribution bearing commercial labels. Misleading.

In addition to electronic devices used to print labels and production dates, without any legal documents such as the commercial registry, municipal license, or tax certificate.

Destruction of more than 1,900 kilograms

The secretariat reported that a violation had been detected against the site owner for carrying out an activity without a license. Regular, and all the violating tools and materials were seized in preparation for completing the regular procedures against him in accordance with the municipal sanctions list, noting that the Umm al-Salam Sub-municipality took over closing the entire site immediately after the seizure.

The secretariat indicated that more than 1,900 kilograms of food materials unfit for consumption were destroyed, while suitable materials were delivered to the Preservation of Grace Association. The charity “Sustainability” is part of the municipality’s efforts to reduce food waste and enhance the safety of the food chain within the governorate.

The Jeddah municipality appreciated the cooperation of citizens and residents in reporting irregular sites and health violations through the “Baladi” application or through the unified center for reporting services “940”, stressing the continuation of its oversight efforts to protect the consumer and ensure food safety in all neighborhoods of the governorate.
