"IBM" : Artificial intelligence is an essential pillar of competitiveness and productivity

DUBAI, 13th October / WAM / Shukri Eid, General Manager of IBM in the Gulf, Levant and Pakistan, confirmed that the company continues to expand its investments and partnerships in the UAE and the region to enhance the role of artificial intelligence as a basic pillar for increasing productivity, competitiveness and achieving added value in various economic sectors, indicating that IBM is focusing in its participation in GITEX Global 2025 on presenting the latest Its applied solutions in generative artificial intelligence and artificial intelligence governance, in line with the UAE’s priorities in building an advanced and sustainable digital economy.
He explained to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the company is showcasing, during its participation in the exhibition, a group of global and regional applications that reflect the qualitative transformation led by artificial intelligence technologies in the fields of business, production and services, noting that IBM has been participating in GITEX since its first edition in 1981, which makes its presence part of the history of the event and its development over more than four decades.
Eid said that IBM attaches great importance to scientific research and development in the field of artificial intelligence, explaining that the company has been engaged in joint research with the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence for four years, which has resulted in the development of Arabic linguistic models that speak in five different dialects, in addition to geospatial models linked to satellite images, used in analyzing geographical data and exploring applications related to sustainability. Urban planning and climate.
He stressed that responsible governance of artificial intelligence has become one of the most important axes of work in the next stage, pointing out that last year the company announced a joint project with the “E&” Group to implement an integrated system for artificial intelligence governance across its global network of companies.
He added that governance means the organization’s ability to monitor the performance of artificial intelligence models at all stages of operation, and know whether the results are still within the approved analysis standards.
He said that during the GITEX activities, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment to cooperate in five main areas of using artificial intelligence, including biodiversity, combating climate change, improving services, and developing certification systems for plants and animals entering the country.
He also pointed out IBM’s cooperation with the Dubai Future Foundation in a qualitative initiative concerned with supporting the role of the CEO of artificial intelligence within organizations, an initiative launched in the Emirates in recognition of the importance of this role in enhancing innovation and productivity in the government and private sectors.
