President Sisi meets with the Prime Minister of Italy on the sidelines of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, today, in Sharm El-Sheikh, the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, Giorgia Meloni, on the sidelines of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdel-Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptians Abroad, and Major General Hassan Rashad, Head of the General Intelligence Service.
The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the meeting dealt with ways to strengthen relations. The distinguished bilateral relationship between Egypt and Italy, where the President praised the development witnessed in the areas of cooperation between the two countries, stressing the importance of continuing to develop the partnership in the political, economic and commercial sectors, as well as increasing cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture, construction, tourism, and other areas of common interest.
They also discussed strengthening trade ties and facilitating communication between the business community and the private sector in the two countries, in light of the keenness of The two sides agreed to support mutual investments.
For her part, the Italian Prime Minister welcomed the remarkable growth in the level of cooperation between Cairo and Rome, stressing her country’s keenness to build on this momentum in a way that serves the interests of the two peoples.
The official spokesman added that the discussions dealt with a number of regional issues, with Meloni expressing her appreciation for the pivotal Egyptian role in facilitating the agreement. To the agreement to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, stressing Italy’s full support for the efforts aimed at achieving stability in the region.
The President stressed in this context that the ceasefire agreement represents the culmination of the intense efforts led by Egypt in cooperation with Qatar and the United States over two years to end the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip, pointing to the importance of moving forward towards reconstruction, and providing the necessary political horizon to establish An independent Palestinian state in accordance with the decisions of international legitimacy.
Italy’s support for Egypt within the European Union was also discussed, with an emphasis on the aspiration for the success of the Egyptian-European meeting scheduled to be held in Brussels on October 22, 2025.
