Hazza bin Hamdan bin Zayed visits Al Dhafra Dates Festival and Auction

Al Dhafra Region, 17 October / WAM / Sheikh Hazza bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited the activities of the Al Dhafra Dates Festival and Auction in its fourth session, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, and organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, in Madinat Zayed in the Al Dhafra Region, and continues until October 26, 2025.
During the visit, Sheikh Hazza bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan was briefed on the festival’s activities, and attended part of the elite date decorating competition and the date packaging competition. He also followed the date auction, viewed the items offered for bidding, and listened to an explanation about the competitions, the mechanism for receiving entries, and the system for sorting and judging them.
The festival includes 21 competitions for which 173 prizes are allocated, including nine competitions dedicated to dates, in addition to a daily auction during which Emirati dates of various types and quality are displayed to those wishing to acquire them.
Sheikh Hazza bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit also included a tour of a number of pavilions participating in the festival, during which he learned about the products and services they offer. The tour included a visit to the “Moroccan Village”, where he was briefed on the various types of Moroccan dates on display, within the framework of the Kingdom of Morocco’s participation as a guest of honor for the fourth session of the festival, which reflects the keenness to exchange experiences between Moroccan and UAE farmers. He also viewed the types of Moroccan oils displayed in the village. Follow how Moroccan tea is prepared and learn about its symbolism of hospitality and generosity.
Sheikh Hazza bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan also visited the pavilion of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the pavilion of Al Foah Dates Company, the pavilion of the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company “SEHA,” and the pavilion of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, where he learned about the services provided by these entities, the efforts they are making, and their societal contributions.
His visit also included the pavilion of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, where he listened to an explanation about the “hazzam”, the method of manufacturing and decorating it, its types and uses. He also visited the photography competition exhibition and the drawing competition, and viewed the artworks on display. The tour also included a visit to the honey village, where he inspected the types of honey on display from inside and outside the Emirates.
Sheikh Hazza bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan was accompanied on the visit by Sheikh Mubarak bin Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, His Excellency Nasser Mohammed Al Mansouri, Undersecretary of the Court of the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, His Excellency Abdullah Mubarak Al Muhairi, Acting Director General of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, and His Excellency Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of the Festivals and Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, along with a number of officials.
