The Minister of Health in a ministerial session entitled "Anticipating the future of artificial intelligence in Egypt"

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, participated in a high-level ministerial session, entitled “Foreseeing the future of artificial intelligence in Egypt.” On the sidelines of the activities of the First International Conference on Artificial Intelligence, organized by Cairo University from October 18 to 19, 2025, under the patronage of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and with the broad participation of ministers, decision-makers, experts, academics and representatives of state institutions and the industrial sector, and under the sponsorship of UNESCO, the United Nations Development Program and the World Health Organization, along with a number of academic and research institutions and technology companies. In his speech during the session, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar stressed the close connection between artificial intelligence and human development, especially in the fields of education, health, and providing a decent life for individuals.

He explained that artificial intelligence technologies intersect with all development axes, considering them a major tool for a massive digital revolution, and an essential part of big data applications and analysis.

He also pointed out that artificial intelligence represents a milestone in changing the ways of life, study, and health care. Rather, it affects all aspects of life in a balanced manner, as it is considered a basic infrastructure for human capital, due to its interference in the details of the lives of every individual and every government agency, regardless of their specialization..

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar pointed out that about 25% of the world’s population will face major challenges if their skills are not enhanced or restructured, warning of a global gap in artificial intelligence skills that could lead to losses amounting to $30 trillion in gross national product. He stressed that the world is witnessing an unprecedented shift in the balance of development, as countries such as Egypt, China, and the United States of America compete on equal footing in the race. Artificial intelligence, which provides an opportunity for all countries to work simultaneously towards enhancing human development and improving the performance of institutions, which reflects positively on the quality of life for societies..

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of building a flexible society capable of using artificial intelligence tools efficiently, through developing “enabling skills for hybrid intelligence,” which depends on the integration of man and machine without replacing one with the other.

Dr. Abdel Ghaffar concluded his speech by pointing out that the features of the world will change radically by the year 2050 due to technological development, especially in education and health.

 He explained that artificial intelligence curricula are being integrated into all educational levels, from basic to university education, to include all specializations and not just computer colleges. Coordination is also taking place between ministries to prepare curricula that take into account the specificity of each field, in addition to developing artificial intelligence applications in the health sector to support the quality of services provided to citizens..

For his part, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, indicated that the Ministry is implementing an integrated strategy for artificial intelligence, which includes developing study programs to be in line with the digital revolution, supporting applied scientific research, and establishing research centers of excellence in universities. The Supreme Council of Universities also issued a national guide for the use of artificial intelligence in universities, focusing on authenticity, transparency, and digital security, as a step towards building smart universities. Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, noted that the information infrastructure is divided into two parts, namely providing an effective digital system that enables citizens to deal smoothly with artificial intelligence technologies, stressing that the national strategy includes supporting emerging companies and entrepreneurship, while encouraging 250 companies in the field of artificial intelligence during the next five years, to create opportunities for positive use. For everyone.

Mohamed Gibran, Minister of Labor, stressed that artificial intelligence has become an inevitable necessity and a major partner in decision-making, data analysis, and forecasting labor market needs. He explained that it is an effective tool for directing young people towards future professions and creating job opportunities, reviewing the ministry’s role in supporting digital transformation through a comprehensive development system aimed at improving the work environment, raising performance efficiency, and empowering national cadres with digital skills..
