Abu Zahra: Hossam Hassan leads Egypt in the 2026 World Cup

Mustafa Abu Zahra, a member of the Football Association’s Board of Directors, confirmed that Hossam Hassan will lead the Egyptian national team technically during the 2026 World Cup, indicating that the Federation has confidence in his abilities after his success in achieving the goals required of him so far.

Abu Zahra said in statements to DMC channel: “Hossam Hassan was assigned to qualify for the 2025 African Nations and the 2026 World Cup, and he succeeded in doing so 100%, and we are proud. With what he presented because he is one of the symbols of Egyptian football.”

Regarding the criticism regarding the weakness of the Egypt group in the qualifiers, he explained: “The team suffered before against smaller teams, but now Nigeria and Cameroon are in the playoffs, while Cape Verde, which Egypt beat with a score of 3-0, was unable to qualify for the 2025 African Nations, and this confirms the strength of what It was achieved.”

He added: “What was achieved was not a coincidence, but rather the result of effort and struggle, and whoever does not see that does not want to rejoice in the team’s achievement.”

The member of the Football Association concluded his statements by saying: “Hossam Hassan will continue to lead the team during the World Cup, and if it reaches the semi-finals of the African Nations and some players are injured, it will not be possible.” The solution is to dismiss him.
