President Sisi receives a phone call from the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway.

Today, Sunday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Jonas Jar Sture, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway.

 

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the Norwegian Prime Minister congratulated President El-Sisi on the occasion of the success of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, expressing his appreciation. For the intense efforts made by Egypt to reach an agreement to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, and for the kind invitation extended to his country to participate in the summit.

 

For his part, President Sisi welcomed the participation of the Norwegian Prime Minister in the summit, stressing Egypt’s pride in the close cooperation relations with Norway, and its common endeavor to consolidate the foundations of Regional stability.

 

He also praised Norway’s positions in support of the Palestinian issue, especially its announcement in May 2024 of its recognition of the Palestinian state, confirming its adherence to the two-state solution as a basic pillar for achieving just peace, indicating that Norway’s position is an emulated position.

 

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman, added that the Norwegian Prime Minister affirmed his country’s support for the humanitarian work directed at the Gaza Strip, in addition to launching a political path that leads to the implementation of the two-state solution, indicating that Norway is communicating with all concerned parties to achieve these goals.

In the same context, he noted the pivotal role played by Egypt in Calming the conflict in the region, and adopting a wise approach in facing challenges, stressing the importance of gradually involving the Palestinians in the management of the Gaza Strip, with the exception of the Hamas movement.

The official spokesman explained that the call also dealt with emphasizing the importance of fully implementing the provisions of the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement, ensuring the continuation of the ceasefire, facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, and accelerating the launch of the reconstruction process, as he reviewed Mr. President, developments in the implementation of the agreement.

 

In this context, President Sisi indicated Egypt’s intention to host the international conference for early recovery and reconstruction of the sector, expressing Egypt’s aspiration to enhance cooperation with Norway in the framework of preparation for this conference and the active participation of the Norwegian side in its work.

 

From For his part, the Norwegian Prime Minister welcomed the continuation of consultation and coordination with Egypt in this regard, stressing his country’s intention to work with Egypt and intensify coordination with it regarding the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

The call also witnessed a comprehensive review of the course of bilateral relations between the two countries, as the two sides expressed their satisfaction with the rapid development in the level of cooperation, especially in the wake of President Sisi’s visit to Norway in December 2024. It was agreed to intensify coordination and build on the outcomes of that visit, while continuing to discuss opportunities for joint cooperation, especially in the fields of new and renewable energy, including through the “Scatec” company. Norwegian operating in Egypt, stressing in this regard Norway’s keenness to deal with Egypt to make it a center for new and renewable energy.
