Yasser Idris awards the President of the International Hockey Federation with the Olympic medal and they agree to establish a world-class stadium

Engineer Yasser Idris, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee and Vice President of the International Water Sports Federation, was keen to receive  Dato’ Al-Tayeb Ikram, President of the International Hockey Federation, at the headquarters of the Olympic Committee at the Cairo International Stadium, at the conclusion of his official visit to Egypt, which lasted for several days, on the sidelines of the African Hockey Cup of Nations, which was held in Ismailia. To the Egyptian Olympic Committee, Major General Ashraf Farahat, President of the Egyptian Hockey Federation and member of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, and a number of officials from the International and African Federations.

 

During the meeting, Engineer Yasser Idris awarded the Egyptian Olympic Committee necklace to Dato El-Tayeb Ikram in appreciation of his great contributions and continuous efforts in developing the sport of hockey at the international level, and for his constant support for the two federations. The necklace is one of the highest honors given by the Egyptian Olympic Committee to international sports figures.

 

The President of the International Hockey Federation conducted a tour inside the Egyptian Olympic Committee Museum, accompanied by Major General Ashraf Farahat and a number of officials from the International Hockey Federation. And the African Games, where he expressed his admiration for the museum’s holdings that chronicle the achievements of Egyptian sports and highlight its role in the international Olympic arena.

Engineer Yasser Idris discussed during the meeting with Dato’ El-Tayeb Ikram ways to support the sport of hockey in Egypt, as the President of the International Federation announced the provision of full support to Egypt, represented by the construction of a new stadium at the highest level, in preparation for hosting the African Games. 2027.

Dato El-Tayeb Ikram also congratulated the Egyptian hockey team on winning the silver medal and placing second in the African Championship, praising the distinguished organization, and thanking the Egyptian Olympic Committee for its continued support of the game.

The President of the International Hockey Federation stressed that the Egyptian national team has a strong team that has a great opportunity to qualify for the 2026 World Cup through the scheduled qualifiers. It will be held in Egypt during next March, indicating his confidence in the ability of Egyptian players to achieve a new achievement for Egyptian hockey.

Engineer Yasser Idris expressed his happiness with the visit of Dato’ Al-Tayeb Ikram, President of the International Hockey Federation, to the headquarters of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, stressing that this visit reflects the depth of relations between the Egyptian Olympic Committee and the International Hockey Federation, and the support of the global sports leadership to develop various games in Egypt. 

 

Idris explained that awarding the Olympic Committee medal to Mr. Ikram comes in recognition of his great role in supporting the sport of hockey at the international and African levels, indicating that cooperation between the two sides will contribute to strengthening Egypt’s position on the global hockey map, especially with the great support announced by the International Federation to establish a new stadium for the game in preparation for the 2027 African Games, which It will be hosted by Egypt.
