“Sharjah International School” wins the “Faisal Al Qasimi Football Championship” Cup

The Sheikh Faisal Al Qasimi Football Championship, organized by Sharjah International School for the first time in the Emirate of Sharjah, revealed the list of winning teams. Sharjah International Private School was crowned first place, after an outstanding performance that embodied the spirit of competition and sports discipline. Khalifa Al Hamza American Private School won second place, while the American School for Scientific Creativity won third place.

The tournament witnessed the participation of 12 private schools from various regions of the emirate, as part of a sports initiative aimed at discovering promising talents among primary school students, honing their sports skills, and enhancing their spirit of competition and discipline.

Industry excellence
Sheikh Faisal bin Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, sponsor of the tournament, told Emirates Today that school sports represent a fundamental pillar in building generations and creating academic and human excellence, noting that practicing sports contributes to motivating students to academic excellence and instills in them the values ​​of discipline, perseverance, and team spirit.

He added: “We view school sports as one of the paths that support integrated educational development. It is not limited to physical competition only, but rather instils in the souls of students good morals, respect for rules, and teamwork, which are principles that form the basis of their success in their academic and future lives.”

He stated that the launch of the tournament comes within the framework of supporting educational and sports initiatives in the Emirate of Sharjah, and enhancing the role of schools in discovering and nurturing emerging talents, stressing his keenness for the tournament to become a renewed annual event that contributes to building a generation that enjoys a balance between academic excellence and sporting excellence.

An outstanding initiative
Lana Kooy, Director of Sharjah International School, said: “The Sheikh Faisal Al Qasimi Football Championship is a distinguished initiative held for the first time with the participation of 12 schools from the Emirate of Sharjah. It aims to enhance the role of school sports in developing students’ skills and refining their talents. Sports contribute to building a balanced personality and encourage students to achieve academic excellence through the spirit of competition, discipline and teamwork.

She added: “We at Sharjah International School are proud that our team achieved first place in the first edition of the tournament, stressing our commitment to supporting the continuity of this sporting event and expanding the scope of participation in future sessions, because of its positive impact in discovering student energies and enhancing communication and cooperation between the emirate’s schools.”

A series of tournaments
Karim Al-Zayadi, general coordinator of the tournament, said that this edition is being held for the first time in the emirate, and is the beginning of a series of annual tournaments that the school plans to organize in the future, indicating that the goal is to expand the base of school participation and attract the largest possible number of talented students.
He added that the tournament focuses on nurturing gifted students, especially citizens, and discovering them at an early stage, which contributes to developing their personalities and building a balance between their academic achievement and their sports skills.
